Deepika Padukone is known for choosing the right script at the right time and we say this because her filmography is proof of her choices. From Yeh Jaawani Hain Deewani, Desi Boyz, Piku, Padmaavat and others, Deepika has been part of successful films and when it comes to proving her versatility, Deepika Padukone has entertained us with a variety of roles. From the girl-next-door in Ayan Mukerji’s Yeh Jawaani Hain Deewani to a doting daughter in Piku to Mastani in Bajirao Mastani, Deepika Padukone is an actor par excellence.

Having tasted success at such an early age, during a recent interview, Deepika Padukone was asked as to what goes through her mind when she picks up a script and to that, Deepika said that she continues to choose projects the same way she did 10 years ago and she primarily follows her gut and heart. “When the narration finishes, I have to feel butterflies in my stomach otherwise I don’t take up the film. The film has to unsettle me,” shares Deepika. Be it a period drama like Padmaavat or slice of life film like Piku and Yeh Jawaani Hain Deewani, what is important for her as an actor is that she needs to feel challenged. “It does not have to be an extremely intense film. Even when I chose a film like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), I had the same level of excitement because I had never played a character like Naina before. I have to feel challenged. I have always listened to that voice in my head,” shared Deepika.
